Began studies in German Studies in 1991; also interviewer for polling institutes, insurance salesman, journalist, taxi driver.
Published in regional Styrian magazines since 1989.
Numerous essays, short stories, audio plays, and in-depth reports; successful novel writer.
Lives with his family in Vienna.

- 2002 Friedrich Glauser Prize for Crime Fiction for Der Kameramörder (The Camera Murderer)
- 2004 City of Vienna Award for the Promotion of Literature
- 2006 Austrian National Award for the Promotion of Literature
- 2007 Phantastik Prize of the City of Wetzlar for Die Arbeit der Nacht (Night Work).
