Voltaire
Voltaire hieß eigentlich François Marie Arouet. Während eines Aufenthalts in England wurde Voltaire mit der Physik Newtons, der Philosophie Lockes (Empirismus und Liberalismus) und dem Deismus bekannt, dessen bekanntester Vertreter er werden sollte. Mit Rousseau gilt er als Wegbereiter der französischen Revolution.
