[ 01.03.08 ] I’m honestly trying to persist in the world of Web 2.0. I read blogs daily and am a member of a number of communities I trust. What’s more, I quickly get enthusiastic about new gimmicks and gadgetry. But I just can’t see my way through it all anymore. Does anyone really need to access Facebook, StudiVZ (a students’ directory), SchülerVZ (a directory for ... lire la suite

[ 21.02.08 ] Today I’ve the great honour to announce another Second Life event. Maybe you remember: on the last Thursday of each month, we present an author who brings literary air to the virtual world. After having Susanne Berkenheger, a German exponent of net literature, as our guest in January, we are going international this month. At about 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, Mark Amerika, the ... lire la suite

[ 18.02.08 ] Few of us remember the fad of inserting ads in paperbacks. Suddenly, in the middle of a text – during a sexual act or great calamity – there was an advertising blog or rather text. Yet due to the very nature of book consumerism, the lifespan of this concept was limited: you couldn’t reach near as many consumers as you could on TV, and by the time the book came out, some products were no ... lire la suite

[ 05.02.08 ] In Germany one hears torrid lamentations about reading books on a screen, yet the Japanese do it without a second thought. In Japan ... lire la suite

[ 24.01.08 ] Hi everyone on this lovely Wednesday evening! Here, where I am, winter is back and what could be better than a bit of wanderlust and a book - preferably one that will beam me directly to Cape Town. But there’s a little problem: I don’t have a clue who has written about the place. ... lire la suite

[ 16.01.08 ] Blogs aren’t really hot new stuff and so it’s quite strange that the old battle between “classical” (I do doubt, that this is a good word together with journalism) und the “new” journalism becomes revitalised. Whether in Berlin Blogger and journalists (again, I don’t know, if they aren’t just all the same) fighting, colleagues show their ignorance or they just bait (“Blogs ... lire la suite

[ 09.01.08 ] The year 2008 will be a “Second Life Year” for readme.cc. In our house of literature “Dagny” we will meet by now every last Thursday of the month for chatting and listening to readings from some nice authors. We start our series with the netauthor Susanne Berkenheger . For everybody who has always questioned where the hypertext is gone, she will have an answer. Who concerning ... lire la suite

[ 20.12.07 ] At the end of the year certain goods have a quite boom: knowledge. Besides the new Plattform “Knol” from Google which reminds at Wikipedia, also the “Spiegel” jumps on the bandwagon and starts Spiegel.wissen.de . (That Burda has catched scienceblog fits quite well in these scene). But one news really shocks the open-source-movement as well as the agents of the ... lire la suite

[ 12.12.07 ] After a really annoying battle „Online“ against „Print“, the Online-Magazine „Perlentaucher“ wins. So the FAZ and SZ can read their bookreviews in the morning together on the screen. A milestone for Internetcommunities. Great! Infos lire la suite

[ 05.12.07 ] So far the book-market has been relatively constant regarding the commercial partnerships. Now the “Ernst Klett” publishing company has reached something which will make history. Three month ago the “Booklett” company has published its program for spring, now they can forget about it. Good bye, all you written books. Without the financial space from the global player, the ... lire la suite

[ 28.11.07 ] Since a while I carry the amazon and “Kindle” issue around with me. So now I decided to make it public and ask about opinions. As the so called article from Newsweek seemed more an commercial www.newsweek.com/id/70983 (they got it for free) than a journalistic work, none exactly knows about what the “reading machine” is realy dealing wih (apart that it costs a packet about 400 bugs) ... lire la suite
