Harold Pinter is one of the most influential dramatists of the twentieth century. Known for his use of long silences and dramatic pauses, and for his representation of fragmented conversational patterns, Pinter produced 29 stage plays along with many sketches, radio plays and prose works over a writing career that spanned more than 50 years.
Starting out as an actor with the stage name David Baron in the mid 1950s, Pinter continued to tread the boards throughout his life, appearing in various productions of his own plays as well as other films and television adaptations.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2005.
